Mākonis - design and cocktails. The wooden building at Stabu iela 42, built in the 1880s and known locally as the Old Horse-Post Office, was one of the first designed by Reinhold Schmaeling. It is a refined construction saturated with Neo-Renaissance elements layered in an even, measured Eclectic style. A late-20th-century reconstruction significantly changed the first floor, and large display windows were installed that replaced the original rhythm of window openings. In late 2015, the former store space was turned into a design café. Echoes of the space's previous inhabitant have been preserved and cleverly incorporated into the design. The café is furnished with functionally decorative works by Latvian designers and artists, creating a comfortable, informal and creative atmosphere.
